MEETING DATE: November 1, 2011 AGENDA ITEM: Membership BACKGROUND INFORMATION: At our August Fire Board meeting the board approved to open up applications for new members for the St. Joseph Fire Department. We received 11 applications and are going to be doing the Oral Interview and Agility Testing at the end of November. We are down three members and are hoping to fill these and possibly making a list of applications that would meet our standards that we could use in the case of any other members that may retire or leave the department in the next year. This would save us time and money if we our able to do this. It is anticipated that the required testing will not be completed until late 2011 or early 2012, so the Board should discuss the process that will be used, either a special meeting or authorize the Fire Chief to recommend the hire to the City Council. BUDGET /FISCAL IMPACT: Up to $5,000 per member over a two year period ATTACHMENTS: None REQUESTED ACTION: Discussion on how to move forward
