AGENDA ITEM: Fire Chief's Report
• Amanda Cherne did pass her Road Test for her Class B license with Tanker endorsement.
Amanda was the last one of the original Fire Fighters that need to get this done, now anyone
that gets on needs to get this done as part of their minimum requirements. Brent Johnson,
Brian Arms, and Mike Schmotzer were hire in July of 2010 and all three need to complete this
yet. Sharon Young, who was hired in July of 2011 also needs to get this completed.
• The Parking lot at the Fire Hall has been resealed along with the parking spaces repainted.
• The Annual pump and ladder testing has been completed on units 1 & 2, with and few minor
repairs to unit 1.
• The FEMA grant did finally open up and we applied for a grant to replace 14 sets of Turnout
gear, that are not up to the current standard, and 10 new SCBA's with 10 extra tanks that are
not up to the current standard. Both of these are getting up in age and if we do not get the
grant we will need to start purchasing these to get up to the current standard set forth by the
NFPA.
• We did receive a letter from the DNR, stating that we did get a $3000.00 50/50 matching
grant to help purchase the equipment for the new 6- wheeler / side by side grass atv.
• All of our radios need to be reflashed per Stearns County. They have group some of the
channels different and need to get all the departments on the same channels. Stearns
County will be coming out to our hall to do this at no charge.
• The City of Elrosa has signed the purchase agreement that our attorney wrote up for them to
purchase our old pumper. They also sent a deposit of $3,000.00 and under stand that we
have up to 30 days to deliver this after our new truck arrives and at that point they also must
pay the balance of $57,000.
