Motion to Approve –
Liaison Reports;
Bob Loso –
a.It was brought up that a trail be put in between the Wobegon Trail and the Holiday store.
Scenic Specialty would do the landscaping and it was thought that the ½-cent sales tax
could be used.
Terry Thene –
a.Park shelters are all closed for the winter.
b.Port-a-potties are to be removed soon.
c.Sentence to serve-The county will be charging $100 per day (approximately 6 ½ hours)
for 4-8 people.
d.Vandalism security cameras- The police chief (Pete) is still working on it. When research
will be done is unknown.
Old Business;
a.Park Classification (Regional) - Representative Larry Hosch will be sending Bob the
states definition of a Regional Park.
b.Donation boxes- It is undecided by the Park Board where and if donation boxes will be
installed in various parks (i.e. Millstream Frisbee golf, etc.)
c.Monument Repair- Guests to the meeting expressed the desire to have the monument in
Memorial Park repaired. The monument was leveled in 1992 and ground support has
been the current issue with cracking. Project cost estimates need to be figured for new
steps, flooring/platform and mortar cracks. The park board has been looking into this
since summer but funding and/or grants has stalled the process. A Legacy Grant and
money currently in the historical society funds ($7,000) are two possibilities. The park
board will again pursue funding and estimates for the project.
New Business;
a.Rivers Bend Park development- Nothing is in the works right now.
b.Cloverdale Park- Usage and development was discussed. It was brought up that the park
could be turned into a community garden. The park board would like to get input from
the community possibly with an internet feeler or in the Saint Joseph Newsleader.
