HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011 [10] Oct 24 Saint Joseph Park Board Meetine Minutes, October 24, 2011 Members Present; Lonnie Abbott (Secretary), John Anderson (Chairman), Andrew Deuhs, Marguerite Fogerty, Chad Hausmann, Sharon Young, Bob Loso (Councilor Liaison), Terry Thene (Staff Liaison). Guests; E. Studer and A. Loso from Historical Society, M. Worda and M. Scheeler from OSB. Meeting Called to Order; 6:30pm Approval of Minutes; Change the date...Motion to Approve — Lonnie, 2 Marguerite; Approved! Approval of Agenda; Motion to Approve — Lonnie, 2 Marguerite; Approved! Treasurers Report; Motion to Approve — No changes so it was not reviewed. Liaison Reports; Bob Loso — a. It was brought up that a trail be put in between the Wobegon Trail and the Holiday store. Scenic Specialty would do the landscaping and it was thought that the 1/2-cent sales tax could be used. Terry Thene — a. Park shelters are all closed for the winter. b. Port-a- potties are to be removed soon. c. Sentence to serve -The county will be charging $100 per day (approximately 6 1/2 hours) for 4 -8 people. d. Vandalism security cameras- The police chief (Pete) is still working on it. When research will be done is unknown. Old Business: a. Park Classification (Regional) - Representative Larry Hosch will be sending Bob the states definition of a Regional Park. b. Donation boxes- It is undecided by the Park Board where and if donation boxes will be installed in various parks (i.e. Millstream Frisbee golf, etc.) c. Monument Repair- Guests to the meeting expressed the desire to have the monument in Memorial Park repaired. The monument was leveled in 1992 and ground support has been the current issue with cracking. Project cost estimates need to be figured for new steps, flooring/platform and mortar cracks. The park board has been looking into this since summer but funding and/or grants has stalled the process. A Legacy Grant and money currently in the historical society funds ($7,000) are two possibilities. The park board will again pursue funding and estimates for the project. • New Business; a. Rivers Bend Park development- Nothing is in the works right now. b. Cloverdale Park- Usage and development was discussed. It was brought up that the park could be turned into a community garden. The park board would like to get input from the community possibly with an internet feeler or in the Saint Joseph Newsleader. Adjournment; Motion to Adjourn — 8:15 pm by Lonnie, second by Chad.
