AGENDA ITEM: Fire Chief's Report
• Class B License Report: Brent Johnson, Brian Arms, and Mike Schmotzer were hired in July of
2010 and all three need to complete this yet. Sharon Young, who was hired in July of 2011
also needs to get this completed.
• On February 16th, we received a letter from FEMA regarding the grant that we applied for
last fall for new turnout gear and air packs. Unfortually, we were declined to receive a grant
this year.
• All of our radios have been reflashed by Stearns County. Everyone on the department now
has a pager that will work with Stearns County's new "Shortwave" system they installed.
• All three new members started with the Fire department on February 14. They are Mike
Folkerts, Cory Molitor, and Ron Schmidt. Ron is a paramedic with Gold Cross so will not need
to take First Responder, Mike and Cory are signed up to start their First Responder March 5th.
All three will need to take FF1 as soon as a class opens up. Ron and Mike have their CDL and
Cory is already working on his.
• Progress on the new pumper is on the way. The chasse has been ordered and should be
delivered to Rosenbauer soon for the installation of the pump, tank, and box of the truck.
Still on a target for delivery in late August / early September of 2012.
