Fire Board Agenda Item 5 - C MEETING DATE: February 21st, 2012 AGENDA ITEM: ATV Replacement BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In 1999, the Fire Department purchased a Polaris ATV, mini pump, and trailer to assist in fighting grass fires at a cost of $15,514.24. The expected life for this machine was put at 10 years. Back in our meeting in May of 2011, the Fire Board agreed to writing a 50/50 grant to the DNR for help with replacing our ATV. We were able to get $3000.00 of the requested $6000.00 for the new pump on the machine. (This needs to be spent with in 1 year) We also have $13,000.00 set aside in the ATV fund. We believe that our current machine is worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $4000 to $5000 (for the ATV, pump, & trailer) BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: An estimated cost of $20,000.00 for a new ATV, pump, and trailer ATTACHMENTS: None REQUESTED ACTION: Fire Board approve the purchase of the new equipment and approve to list our current ATV for sale. With the winter we are having, I would like to move on this right away due to the dry conditions.
