AGENDA ITEM: Turn - Out Gear
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: NFPA standard says after a use of 10 years, fire fighters turn out
gear is not up to standard. Over the past two years, the Fire Department has done it's best in trying to get
a grant to replace our aging turnout gear. As noted in the Fire Chiefs report, we were unable to get a
grant this year again and as stated in previous Fire Board meetings by the Fire Chief, we need to start
replacing these. As of right now, we have 14 sets that do not meet the NFPA standard. I would like to
purchase at least 10 sets this year and up to 10 next year. I believe that these need to be done on a yearly
basis so we don't have this issue repeat in 10 years.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: To replace the gear with gear like we have will be no more than
$2000.00 per set (this includes the Coat and Bunker Pants)

the department, the chief can than order them new gear.
