AGENDA ITEM: DNR Grant
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Each year the Minnesota DNR has a Rural Fire Department Grant that
they send to all fire departments. Last year we were able to receive a $3000.00 grant to help replace
our ATV. After talking with our DNR representative, he told me that we may not get one this year
because we received one last year, but to make sure to send it in and try and this will also keep our
name in the running. As stated at our last meeting, we only have 1 back up pager. We are also seeing a
lot of our batteries in our portable radios reaching the end of their life. We would like to write a grant
for 2 new pagers ($520.00 a piece) and 12 new batteries for the portable radios ($50.00 a piece). This is
a 50/50 grant.
BUDGET /FISCAL IMPACT: $820.00
ATTACHMENTS: No
REQUESTED ACTION: Have the Fire Board approve to write a grant to the DNR for pagers and batteries.
