Scenic Specialties, 31101 County Road 133, St. Joseph, is seeking a Renee Symanietz BFA grant to assist with exterior building improvements including the addition of faux windows Dale Wick to the facade of the building and outdoor landscaping including an outdoor fireplace. Illustrations of both are included in the packet. EDA Larry Hosch The total project cost is estimated at $5,000. A $1,000 grant is requested. Chad Davey Steve Frank Upon reviewing the application as it relates to the BFA Eligibility Requirements it is noted: Tom Skahen • The proposed projects are eligible items — facade and landscaping as they are both Dale Wick visible from a public right -of -way. Both appear consistent with the intended goal to further revitalization /renewal efforts. • The property is current with taxes and assessments. • The property is zoned commercial and is consistent with the City's Zoning Ordinance and Comprehensive Plan. • The applicant has not received a BFA grant in 2012 (BFA policies limit properties to one grant per calendar year). BFA Grants were awarded 8/28/09 for entrance facade and 12/9/11 for fencing. • A building permit will be required as a condition, in accordance with the policies. Please note, Mr. Schmitz has indicated he will be out of town and unable to attend the EDA meeting. If you have questions relating to his project prior to the EDA meeting, his contact information is included on the enclosed application. The EDA's 2012 capital allocation included funding for BFA Grant applications and other revitalization efforts. The balance is sufficient to cover this BFA application. BFA program oversight and authority for grant approval was delegated to the EDA. Action: EDA consideration of the grant application is kindly requested. It is recommended the EDA approve the grant contingent upon obtaining the required building permits, with funds dispersed to the applicant upon submittal of receipts or invoices for supplies purchased and inspection which certifies the work completed is in accordance with the EDA approval and other city ordinances.
