Ordinance Reminders
Winter parking restrictions went into effect on
November 1. St. Joseph Code of Ordinance

Section 84.05: SNOW SEASON PARKING.
Subd. 1: There shall be no parking on any City street
from November I to April 1, during the hours of 2:00 A.M. and
7:00 A.M.
Subd. 2: Any vehicles parked in violation of Section
84.03.1, which interfere with the plowing or removal of snow, are
subject to immediate towing at the owner's expense.
In the event that you have visitors and need to leave a car
parked on the street, please contact the Police Department at
320.363.8250. Temporary provisions are allowed unless a
snow event occurs and in which case the vehicles must be moved
off the street.
Section 33.03: REMOVAL OF SNOW
AND OBSTRUCTIONS. The owner of
each lot, part of lot, parcel and piece of
land within the City shall remove or
cause to be removed from the sidewalks
or walks adjacent thereto all snow, ice,
dirt and rubbish within twenty four
hours after the same has been deposited on the sidewalk or walk.
If such owner fails or neglects to remove the same within twenty -
four hours, the City Council may cause the same to be removed
and shall assess the cost of removal against the fronting lots,
parts of lots, parcels and pieces of land. In addition, the Police
Department will issue an administrative citation.
SNOW REMOVAL
It is the goal of the City to have all - •,
roads cleared and passable in a timely
manner. During heavier snow falls, this
may take a bit longer than normal to clear, so please be patient.
Mailboxes need to be built to City specifications in order to be
replaced by the City should it be physically damage by the City
snow plow.
Boards /Commissions
Annually the City accepts applications for membership on the
Planning Commission and Park Board. Applications are
available on the City website www.cityofstioseph.com.
Applications should be submitted to the City Offices no later
than December 29, 2010.

HOLIDAY TREE
PICKUP
The City refuse hauler will again be
C� * picking up trees after Christmas.
They will be picked up on the follow-
ing two Thursdays January 6 and
January 13. Please make sure that the tree does not
have any decorations and DO NOT place the tree in a
plastic bag.
Winter Activities
As soon as the weather permits,
the Maintenance Staff will flood
the skating rink. Typically the G
rink is not open until late
December or early January. When the ice is ready for
activity the warming house will be open Friday 4:00
PM to 8:00 PM and Saturdays and Sundays from noon
to 8:00 PM. If the wind chill drops below —10 degrees
or the temperature is below zero the warming house
will not be open. Information will be posted on the
City website www. cityofstj oseph. com when the rink
is ready.

According to the Department of Natural Resources,
State and Aid Trails (including the Wobegon and
County Road 2) Snowmobile Trails do not open until
December 1. Violation of this provision is punishable
by a misdemeanor which carries a maximum fine of $
1,000 and /or 90 days in j ail. For more information
