HomeMy WebLinkAbout[06b] Redevelopment Request Date: November 19, 2012 Memo To: Members of the EDA City Administrator Weyrens Memo From: Joanne Foust and Cynthia Smith-Strack, MDG, Inc. RE: Future Use of Property at 103 Ash Street East MDG and City staff have been working with a resident of St. Joseph who currently owns a business outside of the City. The Prospect would like to consolidate business locations in St. Joseph. The prospect is retail in nature but could over the long term include a studio. The business owner is employed as are two additional persons. The Prospect is interested in 103 Ash Street East. Maps of the site and existing land use and zoning are attached for your information. The subject property contains an historic single family home with limited plumbing. The Prospect hopes to preserve the historical nature of the structure while converting to commercial use. The property is currently zoned for residential use but is adjacent to the Highway Business zone. The Prospect has asked MDG for assistance with the project in terms of finding a suitable location. Since the Great Recession has greatly altered the economic landscape we have recommended the Prospect seek input by the EDA. Therefore, the Prospect is seeking input from the EDA on whether or not the location makes sense for use as a retail shop and art/craft studio. It is understood the Planning Commission and the City Council have authority over this matter. The Prospect is seeking input from the EDA as it is a local business owner seeking a location in St. Joseph. C) D 0 C1 N °tiT o f 4 o C (l + O n fD -p - > o N u 1 Y 'v`,h\ ''r:. NW 1 AV NV.'
