RE:
Business Retention and Expansion Program
Background.
We are continuing to receive input on our Business Retention and Expansion Surveys. As of
November 20, 2012 we have received responses from 52 of the 150 businesses surveyed
(34%).
The EDA requested a list of businesses that had not yet responded be prioritized with larger
businesses listed first, for a “Call List” to be divided among EDA Commissioners and Chamber
volunteers (Dale Wick, Larry Hosch, VonPinnon, Randy Schmitz, and Mike McDonald). The
EDA also requested staff assist in making calls to businesses that had not responded.
Since the October EDA meeting, staff has called approximately 80 businesses and followed up
with emailing the link to survey to businesses at their request as well as mailing surveys out to
approximately 12 additional businesses.
Attached is a list of businesses that have not yet been contacted via phone. The list is now

around 30 names. MDG will continue outreach on November 28 prior to the EDA meeting.
Drawing for $50 Prize.
As advertised, the Chamber of Commerce is providing a $50 prize for the drawing for
th
businesses which responded by Monday, October 29. Attached is a list of the 38 businesses
which are eligible. We will have these business names available for the official drawing at the
th
November 28 meeting.
Action.
IF NEEDED, EDA members who have volunteered to assist (Wick & Hosch) are asked to select
names from the calling list and begin contacting businesses that have not yet responded.
Drawing of a business owner/representative to receive the $50 prize from the Chamber is kindly
requested.
