MEETING DATE:November 7th,2012 AGENDA ITEM: Unit#4 Tanker/Tender BQCKGROUND INFORMATION:Our Tanker was purchased new in 1999 from Central Fire out of Lyons SD. We have had quite a few issues with this since we took delivery of it along with major leaking of water of the last 2 months. The tank does carry a 20 year warranty, prorated after the first ten years,so we took it down on Monday October 22nd and pick it up Friday October 26th. They said that there was a few cracks that they fixed,a fitting that came loose,2 valves that were leaking, bolts that had broken on the top two covers, and a bad design on the overflow cover that they tried to fix. So far,the tank has not leaked any water, and I have yet to see the bill. I believe that this truck could last longer than the 20 years that it was given, however l don't believe that the tank will last that long. We did have Engfe out of Sauk Centre come and iook at the truck and he said he could put a brand new tank in for around$30,000.00. As the current chief, I think the best option the board would have if we continue to have problems with the tank is to have Engel put the new tank on the 1999 chassis. BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: None at this time(Est.$30,000.00) ATTACHMENTS: REQUESTED ACTION: Nane at this time, but make sure the Fire Board is aware of this option down the road.
