BACKGROUND INFORMATION:Currently,the St.Joseph Fire Department has 29 members with a
maximum of 30 allowed. After 20 years on the department, Mike Lyon has stated that he will be turning
in his retirement letter in November to state he will be done December 1st,2012. This will put us down
2 members,which is the minimum number we like to see when we add new members. I would like to
start the hiring process for 2 new members after the first of the year,with the start date of the new
members starting no later than June 11th 2013.
BUDGETJFISCAL IMPACT: Up to$5,000.00 per new member for classes and gear over a two year
window.
