The bid was rejected and the project temporarily placed on hold. The project scope of construction includes: 1) Replacing the existing sidewalk on the west side of College Avenue with 6 feet wide sidewalk, between Date Street and Elm Street 2) Constructing a new 8 feet wide bituminous trail across the water tower property between Elm Street and the Wobegon Trail and connecting to the trail at the trailhead facility, just north of the water tower. 3) Constructing new 6 feet wide sidewalk on the east side of 12th Avenue between Minnesota Street and CSAH 75. The pedestrian ramps on southeast and northeast sides of the CSAH 75 intersection and across the southeast "pork chop" would be reconstructed. 4) Constructing new 6 feet wide sidewalk on the east side of County Road 133 between CSAH 75 and Elm Street. Note: pedestrian ramps would not be constructed to face west at the Coborn's driveway entrance to discourage mid -block crossings. BUDGET /FISCAL IMPACT: ATTACHMENTS: REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: 2012 Estimated construction cost: $137,000 Despite the construction of the sidewalk on the west side of CR 133 between the Wobegon Trail and Elm Street by the St. Joseph Professional Plat developer, there still remains a short section between the CSAH 75 intersection and the Wobegon Trail that does not have sidewalk. Staff propose that the present plans be amended before rebidding to also include construction of sidewalk between the intersection and the Wobegon Trail to complete the sidewalk link to the intersection on the west side. Re- authorize the advertisement for bids for the project for February 27, 2013, and possibly consider contract award at March 7, 2013 council meeting CADocuments and Settings \jweyrens\Local SettingsUemporary Internet Files \Content.Outlook\XXGOXA92\RCA Readvertise for bids 011713.doc This page intentionally left blank CADocuments and Settings \jweyrens\Local SettingsUemporary Internet Files \Content.Outlook\XXGOXA92\RCA Readvertise for bids 011713.doc
