The job description used for the requirement is the one that was part of the accepted organization study. The Council should determine if that Job Description meets the needs. For internal posting, the City would notify the Police Department that we are accepting applications and provide a copy of the job description that has the requirements and the applications. The City would also have the ability to promote an employee to Interim Police Chief and give that person and the City three/four months to see if the position is a good fit. In this case you would still go through an application process. For external postings we would publish the posting and prepare a community profile.
