Council Agenda Item
MEETING DATE: February 21, 2012
AGENDA ITEM: Antenna Modification
SUBMITTED BY: Engineering/Administration
BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The City has a current lease with Sprint that allows for up to four antennas at
the current rate of $ 1,458.20 per month.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City received a request from Sprint Nextel to make modifications to the
equipment they have located near/on the water tower. When the City receives a request from a vendor to modify
the equipment on/near the water tower, a $ 5,000 escrow is required, which has been paid by Sprint. The purpose
of the escrow is to cover the engineering review costs to assure that any modification to the equipment does not
compromise the integrity of the water tower. The escrow also would cover any inspection costs as a result of the
modification.
SEH has been working with the engineer for Sprint and the plans are now ready to move forward. The only
outstanding item is the additional lease payment the City should receive for the temporary antennas that will be in
service during modification. Cities do charge additional for the temporary antennas. This detail is still being
worked out as we are asking for the same antenna rate for the temporary as for the permanent for the time they
are on site. We will update as we get more information.

REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Authorization of execution of antenna modification consent form continent upon
verification of temporary antenna lease payment.
