St Joseph Park Board Minutes
January 28, 2013

St. Joseph City Hall
Members Present:
John Anderson (Chairman), Marguerite Fogarty (Secretary), Andrew Deuhs,
Sharon Young, Bob Loso (Councilor Liaison), Terry Thene (Staff Liaison) Jody Keehr (new
member)

Welcome and Introduction of New Member:
Jody Keehr was welcomed to the Board.

Terry Thene:
Frisbee golf tournament at Millstream was a success. This event raised approximately $8,000 for
food shelves.
The skating rink is operating well.
The Spirituality and Social Justice group will be contacted regarding help with proposed tree
plantings in the spring.
Old Business:
Cloverdale Park Plan:
John received an e-mail from a resident who would like to donate Hosta plants. He also reviewed
the concept for the new member, Jody, and the group.
Terry said that water for irrigation is stubbed in. He feels we need access to irrigation. He added
that we should have 2 other quotes for the project and will e-mail John with other names. He
knows of someone who may donate labor for the concrete work.
Joe Town Snow Town Updates:
1. John is working on a flyer.
2. Sharon will send a notice to Summer Rec. Families.
3. Softball may not be possible.
4. Clues for the Medallion Hunt are in process. Clues will lead people to local businesses. The
last clue will be on the website.
5. John will provide snowshoes from St. Cloud Park and Rec.
6. Bonfire preparations are set.
7. Kay’s Kitchen will prepare Chili
8. Regarding the wine/beer tasting event: The Police Chief asked if Coborns has a catering
license. John will check into this issue.
9. Children’s events will be held from 1-4
10. Adult activities will be held from 5-8
11. Samantha Exted, a representative from CSB Senate attended the meeting and said she could
find volunteers from service clubs to help with children events. We suggested 10 volunteers. She
said she could find out by Friday. She also offered to advertise the Broomball Tournament and
will check on teams.
12. Interested Members will meet at the Local Blend on Friday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 to finalize plans.
13. Volunteers will take pictures of the events to put on City website.
New Business:
Treasures Report:
1.
A correction was noted. The report states that we budgeted $25,000 for this 2013 and 2014.
The $25,000 is only for the year 2013.
Trails:

The Wobegone Center Trail will continue along Kay’s Kitchen.
The trail along Co. Rd. 133 will have a sidewalk on the east side going to the lights and
will include Pedestrian Ramps by the lights.
