Mayor City Administrator Weyrens

Councilors RE: Development Folders/Marketing
Steve Frank
Bob Loso Background
Renee Symanietz EDA Board Member Danielson showed the EDA an information folder produced by the Becker EDA. I
Dale Wick was asked to follow up on pricing and related matters. I have the following information:
EDA 1. Each folder costs approximately$2.08 to produce.
Doug Danielson
Steve Frank 2. The Becker EDA had the folder itself printed by Sunray Printing. They ran 250 folders for a
Larry Hosch total cost of$43.
Gary Osberg
Dale Wick 3. The Becker EDA had Papers Best print a total of 150 'Business Finance Guides'for a cost of
$136.27. The guides were professionally designed.
4. The Sherburne County Citizen printed 4,000 of the 'Area Guides/Inserts' that are included in
the packet. The Area Guides cost about$1/booklet. The Newsleader has a similar publication
that's distributed here at City Hall. A copy is included in your packet.
5. Sherburne County designed and paid for the printing of the 'Tools for Business Success' flyer.
Becker EDA representatives hand out the folders during business visits, to site selectors, to
realtors working with businesses, and to businesses looking or information about Becker.
6. The EDA Coordinator(Director position was vacant at the time I received information) reports
the packets are presumed to be effective. She also reports that going forward the Becker EDA
will be including more information about existing sites that are for sale/lease, land availability
and industrial park availability. She will also be including a copy of our business assistance
application.
As alluded to by Chair Wick at the meeting, the EDA does indeed have$8,000 available for marketing
(held over from previous years in Fund 150 after SCAEDP disbanded).
The Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation has produced several top quality marketing
materials. It could be possible for the St. Joseph EDA to work with the Development Corporation on
marketing materials.
It is noted we produced several St. Joseph brochures and updated inserts earlier in the decade.
Included in your packet is a nice quality St. Joseph brochure last updated in 2004. In addition a map
funded by Stearns Electric and developed by the City and the Newsleader is included in your packet.
This map is very popular with new residents but not up to date.
There was also a county map produced by several businesses in 2007. I'm including a copy in your
packet for information.

Discussion of potential marketing material development is kindly requested.
