BACKGRQUND INFORMATION:
H�SE-During our annuai Hose testing,we had one 100'section o#5"LDN suppiy hose that did not pass
due to having holes in ix, This comes aff of aur t.adder truck and is used ta supply the truck with water
from a fire hydrant.
PERSQNNEL PROTECTION-As our Turn-Out Gear is gettin�replaced,we are finding that same of the
other gear used to prc�tect the fire fighte�s is not up to date. Clne is the boats that they wear. Right
know,each fire figf�ter is given a pai�of Rubber 8oats(which for ttie most part are used)ar�d if ihey
need to get reptaced it's a cast of$150.04.The last ane's that we bought were back in 2011(and aiready
have hales in the tpp af them where the rubber has separated for the baotj. We have dane some
research and found that f+re figh#er boats have come a lor�g way from the Rubber Boots. 7hey know
have other options thai include better support,the ability to get the boot rebuilt when it wears out,
longer lasting,and a higher safety factor for the fire fighter, This atso means a higher cost. We have
been getting by ihe last few years for the reason af our Air Pack issues that we had. Now that we
received the AFG grant for the packs, i wauld like ta loak at purchasing up to 30 new Fire Fighter Boots.
The second i#em is our�ire Fighter Gioves and wauld also like to loak at getting some diffe�ent style of
Glaves. The current g{oves that we have are very bulky and have issues that when they get wet,the
inside fab�ic will let loose and come aut of the glove. Which makes it very hard the next time you try
and put them on.
Both the�i�e Boots and Fire Gloves that we are using are the same ones that we have been using since I
got on the fire Repartment 17+years ago. 1 understand that these items are a little on the spendy side,
however they are aiso used to heip protect each fire fighter from getting seriously hurt. We also had a
great year last year and were abie to receive the AFG grant to purchase new Air Packs which saved c,s
