St. Joseph Park Board Minutes
September 25, 2013

Reservations for camping at the park is winding down. October 1 marks the end of reserving a
space.
Old Business:
Tree Planting
a.
We will hold off on tree planting until Spring.
Cloverdale Park Progress
b.
Boulders have been located to place in berms. Irrigation will be installed by St. Joe
Plumbing next week. The plan is to “fall seed” and plant trees there now.The budget
is looking good. Flowers will most likely be planted in the Spring.

c.
Troy has the shirts purchased from Promotional Resources. No date was put on them,
so they could be used next year. Since only 8 people signed up and no volunteers
came forward, we were forced to cancel the event for this year. Registrants were
contacted for refund. Next year we need to start earlier marketing. Discussion
included possibly having a Spring Run. We may consider a cross-country run. We
also need to consider the need for volunteers to be trained in traffic control.
Joetown Snowtown Date

Jody wasn’t able to attend the meeting. She was going to check on conflicting
activities in mid-February. A tentative date was set at February 15. Discussion
included:
Better ways of advertising: An electronic sign, Flyers added to utility bill,Radio
advertising, Flyers sent to schools and churches.
New locations for the event could be: The Fire Hall, Parish Center, Legion, School.
We talked about holding one “family event” from 4-8
The possibility of having a radio station attend was brought up.
Sharon will email Rec. Program Families to get suggestions for activities.
New Business:
a.Tot Lot Trail

Andrew brought up the possibility of extending the existing trail to run to 5Ave. We
will revisit this when another pending project for that area is determined.
Meeting Schedule/Time

Park Board Meetings are scheduled for the 4Monday of the month. To change the date
th
may confuse the public. It was decided to continue to meet on the 4Monday. Meeting
time has been changed to 6:00.
The next meeting will be October 28 at 6:00.
