At the September EDA meeting the Board discussed several potential market outreach

One of the activities was a "Best Neighbor" recognition effort. The goal of this marketing

representation of high quality of life.

The November newsletter carried an article soliciting written descriptions of good deeds that
'best neighbors' had undertaken. We have received three responses which are attached to this
memo. The written descriptions are also posted on the City website at this time, although no
pictures are included. The names of the 'good neighbors' we've heard about will be included in
the January newsletter; as will a request for additional nominations.
Discussion on how to use the nominations we've received and how to proceed with this effort is
kindly requested. To get discussion started, we had talked about publishing the good neighbor
name /photo in the Newsleader as well as the Record. We could possibly reward good
neighbors with an official acknowledgement of some type.

This item is offered for your discussion and input.

Subject: best neighbor in town
Hello,
I read in the recent city newsletter about the "who has the best neighbor in town" contest and hands down I win
this one. My neighbors at 817 E Able St, John and Shirley, are the greatest neighbors EVER. They are always
helping with one thing or another, are there for my kids when they need ANYTHING, and are just all around
kind people. Whether it is helping pick up tree branches after the big storm this summer, helping haul landscape
rocks to another neighbor's house, helping my son who is home alone after school for less than an hour realize
that the beeping of the fire detector because it is low on batteries is NOT the same as the fire detector going off,
or making banana bread for my picky eating kids, John and Shirley are incredible. I don't know how I was able
to win the neighbor lottery but I did and I sure am grateful. They deserve the key to the city, a plaque, and/or a
big sign somewhere proclaiming how awesome they are!
Sincerely,
Miranda Novak
815 E Able St
