The Planning Commission will be hosting a workshop style meeting with the EDA and City
Council. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the big picture of signs, not the details or
verbiage of a draft ordinance. Anticipated outcomes of the meeting would include:
1. Billboards They are currently prohibited in the City, has the position of the
City changed
2. Digital Signs how they should be allowed on premise advertising such as gas
signs or the bank or off premise as well?
3. Future How does the City envision signs on major corridors such as CR
75 or near CR 2/I94 is their different signage for different
zoning districts
The meeting will start at 6:30 PM and we would like to cap the meeting at no longer than 8:00
PM. Cynthia Smith Strack will facilitate the meeting. The Planning Commission will be
following up with a meeting two weeks later to continue the discussion based on the input
received.
Meeting materials include: aerial map of the current signs and a map illustrating the different
zoning districts and provisions allowed for each.
