MEMORANDUM
On September 16, 2013, City staff met with representatives from the private utility companies regarding
the potential utility relocation impacts associated with the relocation of power poles along Minnesota
Street between 3rd Ave NW and 1St Ave NE.
Representatives from Charter Communications, Midcontinent Communications, Century Link, and Xcel
Energy were in attendance. The representatives with aerial infrastructure presently on Xcel's poles
acknowledged that there would be (cost) impacts. Several of the representatives were agreeable to
submitting very cursory estimates of the relocation cost. Below is a summary of some of the preliminary
estimates received?
Century Link $10,000 - $15,000 (aerial)
Charter Communications: $118,000 (underground) or $92,000 (aerial)
Midcontinent Communications: $63,000 (underground) or $41,000 (aerial)
Xcel Energy ($5,000 retainer payable to refine estimate): $175,000 - $225,000 (aerial)
