AGENDA ITEM: Fire Chiefs Report
• The two new members, Joe Bye and Brian Theisen have both completed FF1 and FF2 and are
both State Certified. Joe has started First Responder with a completion date in March. Brain
already had this done before joining the fire department. They both have to get their Class B
license with tanker endorsement done yet.
• Ron Schmidt has taken and passed the FF2 class
• We are looking at sending two officers, Dave Salzer and Ken Jacobson to Aniston Al to take
the FEMA IC class in March of 2014. Honer and Taufen took this in 2013.
• The Fire Chief, with the help from the City Administrator, the Public works Director, and the
city's inspector met with Doug Sele who is a representative for Verisk Insurance Solutions —
Insurance Services Office (ISO). The look at what the city has to offer and then sets the city's
ISO rating. Right know we are at a 5 for the city and a 9 for the townships. The last time this
was done was back in 1999. The report can take up to 6 months before we get it back. The
fire chief is in the process of doing a drill this spring with our mutual aid departments that
may lower our township number.
