RE: Best Neighbor Recognition
Mayor
Background:
Rick Schultz
At the December meeting the Board postponed discussion on this program to the January
meeting. At the January meeting the Board postponed discussion to the February meeting.
Councilors
Steve Frank
As noted at the previous meeting:
Bob Loso
Renee Symanietz
At the September EDA meeting the Board discussed several potential
Dale Wick
market outreach activities. The Board by consensus agreed to move
forward with several activities.
EDA

One of the activities was a Best Neighbor" recognition effort. The goal of
Steve Frank
this marketing strategy is to grow community spirit and through pictures of
Gary Osberg
actual residents and written nomination of good deeds we will create a
Larry Hosch
very real, personal image of community & visual representation of high
Dale Wick
quality of life.
The November newsletter carried an article soliciting written descriptions
of good deeds that 'best neighbors' had undertaken. We have received
three responses which are attached to this memo. The written descriptions
are also posted on the City website at this time, although no pictures are
included. The names of the 'good neighbors' we've heard about will be
included in the January newsletter, as will a request for additional
nominations.
Discussion on how to use the nominations we've received and how to
proceed with this effort is kindly requested. To get discussion started, we
had talked about publishing the good neighbor name /photo in the
Newsleader as well as the Record. We could possibly reward good
neighbors with an official acknowledgement of some type.
Action:
Discussion and direction is requested.
