HomeMy WebLinkAbout[06a] Main Pump Station and Collection System Improvements 6a Council Agenda Item MEETING DATE: March 20, 2014 AGENDA ITEM: 2014 Main Pump Station and Collection System Improvements SUBMITTED BY: Randy Sabart BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Ordered Plans and Specs BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project includes: dewatering, construction of a cast-in-place wet well expansion, replacement of existing sanitary sewer with 42-inch sanitary sewer including jack and bore under CR 75, bypass pumping during construction, replacement of water main and service piping, HVAC and plumbing improvements in existing Control Building, generator removal and replacement, electrical and controls upgrades in existing Control Building, replacement of bituminous access road and parking areas, and final turf establishment. The proposed schedule is provided below. Council Orders Advertisement March 20, 2014 Advertisement March 26 and April 2 Bid Date April 16, 2014 Substantial Completion October 31, 2014 Final Completion November 30, 2014 BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: Per Main Lift Station Evaluation Report Engineer’s Preliminary Opinion of Probable construction cost was $1,336,830 ($1,938,530 including soft costs) ATTACHMENTS: Advertisement for Bids REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Order Advertisement for Bids RESOLUTION 2014-011 Resolution Ordering Advertisement for Bids 2014 Main Pump Station and Collection System Improvements WHEREAS, pursuant to a resolution passed by the City Council on August 1, 2013, the City Engineer, Randy Sabart, has prepared plans and specifications for improvements to the main pump station and collection system and has presented such plans and specifications to the council for approval. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ST JOSEPH, MINNESOTA: 1. Such plans and specifications as presented on September 19, 2013 are hereby approved. 2. The City Administrator shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official newspaper, the St. Cloud Times, an advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvement under such approved plans and specifications. The advertisement shall be published for two days, two consecutive weeks, shall specify the work to be done, shall state that bids be received by the City Administrator until 11:00 AM, April 16, 2014, at which time they will be publicly opened in the Council Chambers, 25 College Avenue N, by the City Administrator and City Engineer, will then be tabulated , and will be considered by the Council on April 17, 2014 at 6:15 PM in the Council Chambers, 25 College Avenue North. Any bidder whose responsibility is questioned during consideration of the bid will be given an opportunity to address the council on the issue of responsibility, No bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with Administrator and accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier’s check, bid bond or certified check payable to the Administrator for 5% of the amount of such bid.
