BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Central MN Housing Partnership is in the process of
purchasing the Townhomes on Baker Street East (Blue Buildings). The buildings are income restricted to
Low to Moderate Income and in dire need of updating to include exterior and interior. CMHP is looking
at support from the City. When meeting with them it could be something like waiving the rental license
fees for three to five years, waiving the building permit fee or adding a cash contribution. The Building
Official has indicated that they do need updating and this would be a good project. The grant is very
competitive and any support scores well. The Council does not need to approve any support at this time,
rather indicate if they are supportive of the project and staff will come back with suggestions.

Potential waiver of one time building permit fee
Potential waiver of rental license fee
