HomeMy WebLinkAbout[07a.i] Resolution Declaring costs to be assessed Resolution 2014-013 Declaring Cost to be assessed and Ordering Preparing of Proposed Assessments 2014 Park Terrace (STJOE 125809) WHEREAS, a contract has been let (costs have been determined) for the improvement of the 2014 Park Terrace improvement which affects the following areas: along the north side of Minnesota thrdth Street (CSAH 2) between a point 400 feet west of 4 Ave NW and 3 Ave NW, along 4 Ave NW thth between Minnesota Street W (CSAH 2) and Birch Street W, along 5 Ave NW between 4 Ave thnd NW, and a point 200 feet north of Birch Street W, along Ash Street W between 5 Ave NW and 2 Ave NW, and along Old Highway 52 between Birch Street W and a point 200 feet NW of Birch Street W. Kuechle Underground Inc. is anticipated to be awarded the contracted based on bids received March 26, 2014. The contract for the making of the improvements is $1,521,703.33, and the expenses incurred or to be incurred in the making of such improvement amount to $607,639.59 so that the total cost of the improvement will be $2,129,342.92. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ST. JOSEPH, MINNESOTA: 1. The portion of the cost of such improvement to be paid by the city is hereby declared to be $ 1,667,368.00 and the portion of the cost to be assessed against benefited property owners is declared to be$ 461,975.00. 2. Assessments shall be payable in equal annual installments extending over a period of 15 years, the first of the installments to be payable on or before the first Monday in January 2015, and shall bear interest at the rate of 5.5% percent per annum from the date of the adoption of the assessment resolution. 3. The City Administrator, with the assistance of the City Engineer (consulting engineer), shall forthwith calculate the proper amount to be specially assessed for such improvement against every assessable lot, piece or parcel of land within the district affected, without regard to cash valuation, as provided by law, and he/she shall file a copy of such proposed assessment in his/her office for public inspection. 4. The City Administrator shall upon the completion of such proposed assessment, notify the council thereof.
