The bid results are included as an update BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: ATTACHMENTS: Request for Council Action REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: No Action at this time, only informational. A special meeting will be scheduled to discuss the project. THIS PAGE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK April 28, 2014 City of St. Joseph Attn: Judy Weyrens, City Administrator Dear Ms. Weyrens, Bids for the St. Joseph Government Center project were due and opened on April 22, 2014 at 2:00 pm. This was a public opening attended by many local and re The planning, design, estimating and bid process was a collaborative effort between the City Facilities Committee, Administration, HMA Architects, Design Tree Engineers, and R.A. Morton, Construction Managers. The large majority of the construction work will be completed by local area contractors. The results of this aggressive Bid Package were favorable and include the following highlights: 36 independent sections were established and bid. 329 local and regional contractors were directly contacted to inform them of the project and request bids for the project. 14 iinformed of the project. 238 contractors expressed interest in bidding the project. 117 separate bids were collected and opened at bid opening. 11 Alternates were bid to identify specific costs of value engineer Please see the attached handouts for bid results and overall project detail. By utilizing a Construction Management bid process, exact costs obtained to verify the true cost of work as specified. We are vpleased with the level of local contractor interest and in the quality of the contractors who su this project has been extremely good and the City of St. Joseph is getting a great value. The next step in the process is to pre-award interview the apparent low bid contractors to confirm their bid amount and construction schedule. We anticipate there will be some contracts awarded to the second low contractors due to the selec confirmation of bid completeness.
