BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Through the budget process annual allocations have been added
to the Capital Improvement Plan and approximately$20,000 is available in the 2014 CIP.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The map included with this request identifies the areas proposed
for root foaming.

As per your request, we submit the following quote for Duke's foaming root control service. Please
note that these are estimated quantities, and the actual invoice will be determined by field
measurements made at the time of application.

Prices are computed per linear foot, manhole to manhole and include all Labor, Materials,

charge is required on this project.

Dear Mr. Thene:
This letter is being sent to remind you that the guarantee has expired or is about to expire on the
sewers previously treated by Duke's (see attached log report).
The enclosed report lists each line individually where the guarantee is expiring. We recommend
retreating these areas in the near future in order to maintain the effectiveness of your sewer root
control program. If these sewers are retreated within six months after the guarantee expiration
date, Duke's will extend the current guarantee for an ADDITIONAL THREE YEARS.

DESCRIPTION:
JUSTIFICATION: Account Code: E602-49450-300
Much of the original Village site has old clay tile sewers servicing the area(approximately 4.4 miles of clay
tile). The sewer mains are getting close to reaching their useful lives and will need replacing soon. To
determine which sewer mains need replacing Public Works can televise the sewers to assess how well the mains
are currently functioning. Ideally,the mains would be replaced when a street reconstruction project is planned.
Roots growing into the clay tile mains can be treated and cut back on an on-going basis to keep the mains from
collapsing. Televising and root foaming should continue to help avoid sanitary sewer backups as much as
possible.
