BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
couple years to board stray dogs Maintenance or Police capture. Becky Bohlman, owner, stated she can
no longer accept the strays due to insurance requirements. The St. Joseph Vet Clinic is not able to take
strays. Chief Klein contacted Central MN Animal Care and Control Center (CMACC) in Sauk Rapids to see
if they can take our stray dogs. CMACC contracts with other area cities. CMACC will charge $10/day for
boarding and will collect the fees from the dog owners when they pick up their pet. Dogs not picked up
will be charged back to the City.
The distance is further to bring the dogs to the shelter. Staff is recommending increasing the impound
fee from $25 to $40 to cover staff time and equipment. The daily boarding fee can be reduced from $36
to $15 based on what the City is charged from CMACC (Becky’s daily boarding fees were higher). The
City’s fee is a little over the kennel’s fees to cover administrative costs and stray dogs not picked up.
