HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - April 29, 2014 JOINT AREA CITIES MEETING Meeting Notes, Tuesday, April 29 2014 Hosted by the City of St. Augusta A social/dinner gathering was held at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Augusta Legion Club Call To Order: St. Augusta Mayor Bob Kroll called the St. Cloud Area Joint Cities meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Attendance: The following individuals were in attendance: Members: St. Cloud: City Administrator Mike Williams, City Council members Nancy Gohman, Sonja Berg, George Hontos, Carol Lewis, John Libert and Dave Masters. St. Augusta: Mayor Bob Kroll, City Administrator Bill McCabe, City Council members Donna Schulzetenberg, Mike Zenzen and Paul Reinert. St. Joseph: Mayor Rick Schultz, City Administrator Judy Weyrens, Council Members Renee Symanietz, Steve Frank, Bob Loso and Dale Wick Sartell: Mayor Joe Perske, City Administrator Mary Degiovanni, City Council Members Amy Braig-Lindstrom, Steve Hennes, and David Peterson. Sauk Rapids: Mayor Brad Gunderson, City Administrator Ross Olson, City Council Members Steve Heinen, Waite Park: Mayor Rick Miller, City Administrator Shaunna Johnson, City Council Members Frank Theisen, Chuck Schneider, Herman Bartz and Mike Linquist Others guests in attendance: St. Cloud YMCA director Greg Gack. Local Option Sales Tax Discussion: Shaunna Johnson introduced the topic by explaining some of the work and discussion that went into the topic since the last Area Cities meeting. She stated the mayors and administrators have come up with a recommendation for the “regional” project and indicated the next step in the process is developing the joint powers agreement. The recommendation is for the Trails to receive $10Million over the 20 years, the Airport to receive $4Million and the Aquatics Center to receive $4Million. Mike William briefly reviewed a survey on the regional project that was commissioned by the City of St. Cloud. He then highlighted the Capital Projects plan for the St. Cloud Regional Airport as one of the three “regional” projects. Shaunna Johnson followed with a discussion on the trail portion of the “regional” project. She highlighted the goal of connecting each city to the Lake Wobegon Trail. Greg Gack finished by giving a short presentation on the proposed YMCA/Aquatics Center. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned.
