HomeMy WebLinkAbout[08f] Housing Incentive 8(f) Council Agenda Item MEETING DATE: November 10, 2014 AGENDA ITEM: Housing Incentive SUBMITTED BY: Administration BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The City Council established a housing incentive reducing the WAC/SAC fee by $5,000 for new single family homes. The incentive was limited to the first 10 building permits with an end user with a sunset date of November 1, 2014. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: As of this time the City has utilized three of the credits, with two in Graceview Estates 4. The developer from Graceview Estates 4 has requested that the City continue the incentive into 2015. The funds that were designated were from a residual bond fund and if the extension is granted the remaining balance could be set aside to carry into 2015. They are however hesitant because they may not be able to receive the Wac& Sac incentive that the city was offering. I believe it would be beneficial for the city to renew the Wac & Sac incentive for new construction home owners in the city of St. Joseph for another year.
