PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
On January 5, 2015 the Council authorized the Police Chief to
seek grant funding for the replace of the four squad car computers at an estimated cost of $ 7,500.00
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
MN Statute requires that the Council accept all grants for the
stated purposes. The City did receive funding for the squad car computers from the Office of Traffic and
Safety.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Budget relief and relief from use of forfeiture funds. The
computers needed to be replaced and were scheduled to utilize 50% budget funds and 50% forfeiture
funds.

Authorize acceptance of grant funding from the Office of
Traffic and Safety to purchase four new squad car computers.

We have reviewed your application for the In-Squad Computer grant and are pleased to inform you that
the Office of Traffic Safety will be awarding St. Joseph Police Department a grant for In-Squad computer
equipment. This grant will expire on September 30, 2016.
The funding amount for this grant will need to be negotiated. A coordinator from the Office of Traffic
Safety will contact you regarding the specific equipment your agency will be allowed to pursue with
these grant funds and to discuss the details of your grant.
The Office of Traffic Safety looks forward to working with you in the coming year.
