BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Roughly about 12 years ago we purchased 2 rescue saws to use during
Structure fires. These saws were, at the time, the way to go in the fire service. They have the
capabilities of cutting threw most of the material that we may run into during a fire. After 12 years, the
saws have seen their better days and need to be replaced. The downside of this particular saw is that
they are made out in the East coast and there are no parts and area close to get them serviced if we
have issues. We have done our research and talked with our neighboring departments to see what they
are using and they have switched to a Stihl Rescue Chainsaw. These are pretty close to what we have
and it allows us to get parts or have them fixed locally.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: $825.00 which includes a trade in of old saw, a Stihl discount, and a
Powerhouse discount.
