St. Joseph Park Board
February 25, 2015
6:00 pm
Members Present: John Anderson (Chairman), Marguerite Fogarty (Secretary), Jodi Keehr,
Andrew Deuhs, Troy Goracke, Sharon Young, Matt Killam (Councilor Liaison), Terry Thene
1. Call to Order 6:00
2. Approval of the Agenda Approved.
3. Approval of the Minutes: Approved
4.Liaison Reports
a. Terry Thene
The ice rink is open, maintained again and is being heavily used.
The crew has been cleaning out dead trees at Millstream. Access to Northland
will be re-paved.
Archery Country has requested having a shooting tower installed. Terry is looking
into legality, regarding safety issues.
b. Matt Killam
The Rugby field was approved by the Council.
5.Old Business
a.Klinefelter
No new information. On agenda for next month
b.Public Input for Park Improvement
The Board reviewed the draft of the survey and added these suggestions:
1.“East West Park” should be labeled as “undeveloped”
2.Add St. Joseph Township Lion’s Park
3.Add to #2-list of why they use it?
4.Add to #4 canoe launch (East West Park)
5.Add to #5 basketball courts, and have you ever used these amenities?
6.Add “Movies in the Park”
7.Add “Open Comments”
John will send corrections to the Board for final approval. Logan from the
Newsleader will be contacted.
c.Rugby Use:
The City Council approved the use based on our suggestions. We will review this
after one season.
d.Aquatic Feature
U.S. Aquatics provided a potential design on 4-5 acres. The next step will be to
discuss “numbers”.
e.. Wobegon Update
The Council unanimously approved our recommendation to contributing to add
to the trail.
f.Millstream Shelter thoughts
Matt said there is a meeting next Thursday regarding this. Andrew said he would
like to attend this meeting.
6.New Business
A.Priorities for Future Development
Need results from survey before we proceed with this.
B.Other New Business
Dog issues: Bag receptacles are being replaced with sturdier boxes.
