HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995 [09] Sep 11 ~ Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning Commission I for the City of St. Joseph met in regular session on Monday, September 11, 1995 at 7:30 p.m. in the st. Joseph City Hall. Members Present: Acting Chair S. Kathleen Kalinowski, Marge Lesnick, Dan Nierengarten, Linda Sniezek. Council Liaison Cory Ehlert. Secretary of the Commission Judy Weyrens. Others Present: Ken Borgert, Ben Poepping. Ken Borqert - Industrial Park: Ken Borgert appeared before the Commission to request the possibility of extending Joseph Street to provide access to his property and an additional ingress/egress to the industrial park. Commissioners present discussed the importance of developing the industrial park, making all the lots marketable. Therefore, Sniezek made a motion to recommend the City Council refer this matter to the City Engineer for his review and recommendations. The motion was seconded by Nierengarten. Ayes: Kalinowski, Lesnick, Nierengarten, Sniezek, Ehlert. Nayes: None. Motion Carried 5:0:0 Street Addressing: The Planning Commission received a letter from the City Engineer, Joe Bettendorf, with regards to street addressing. In the letter Mr. Bettendorf recommends the City continue to use the street addressing grid as approved by the City I and Township of st. Joseph. He further states that before making any changes, the Township and Emergency Services Director should be contacted for comment. Ben Poepping discussed with the Commission the logic behind his proposal and requested the Commission further research the matter before making any changes. Commissioners generally agreed to seek the opinion of another source with expertise in street numbering before making any recommendations. This matter will be placed on the October 2, 1995 Planning Commission agenda. Minutes June 29, 1995: Sniezek made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 29, 1995 Planning Commission Meeting as presented.: seconded by Lesnick. Ayes: Kalinowski, Lesnick, Nierengarten, Sniezek, Ehlert. Nayes: None. Motion Carried 5:0:0 Adiourn: Lesnick made a motion to adjourn at 9:15 p.m.; seconded by Nierengarten.
