Ben Kremer
The following commission members were present: Ben Kremer (Acti ng chr.),
AI maleska, Rudy Gapko, John Redmond, Ollie Lesnick (Sec. )
Also appearing were Ted Merickel of Merickel Construction Co. and about
90% of the residents of Park Terrace.
Mr. Merickel was questioned as to what type of construction he was planning for the
Park Terrace area. He explained that he had purchased about 26 lots and that most
,p of them would be low income housi ng in the $21-$24,000 bracket.
Area residents were concerned about the effects on the area if this type of home
was built, resulting in the lowering of property values. Also most of the homes would
be of row houses, construction and no garages.
Mr. Merickel eXplained that he would build any type home requested by his
customers, but because of the high cost of housing most of them would be in the low
income 235 program.
He agreed to meet with any committee formed to discuss futher homes to be built.
A motion was made by Ollie Lesnick and seconded to recommend the Village
Council to approve an ordance that all new homes constructed in the St. Joseph
Village have at least a single garage meeting F. H.A., G.I and conventional
