ST. JOSEPH PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
August 30, 1976
The regular meeting of the st. Joseph, Minnesota Planning Commission was held
at the City Hall on Monday, August 30, 1976. The meeting was called to order
at 7:30 p.m. Present at the meeting were Commissioners Ben Kremer (Chairman),
Ron Klein, Mrs. Marlene Schroeder, Paul Brinkman; City Council Representative
Hugo Weyrens; City Building Inspector Roman Reber.
The minutes of the July 26, 1976 meeting were approved as read.
Mr. Weyrens passed around copies of the "Rental Dwelling Registration Ordinance"
presently in use in st. Cloud. The Commissioners agreed to review the ordin-
ance and related issues at the next regular meeting.
James Landwehr, Don Landwehr, and Steve Dehler appeared before the Commission
on behalf of the st. Joseph Development Corporation. They reviewed the nature
and aims of their organization, and raised several issues in regard to the future
development of the City. In particular, they expressed concern about adequate
zoning for multiple dwellings as additional land is annexed to the City, and
they expressed the view that a certain amount of rezoning may be necessary to
free some additional property within the City for commercial purposes--especially
land adjacent to the present commercial properties in the center of the City.
The Housing and Redevelopment Authority was highly recommended as something to
be looked into by way of securing financing for center city development. Pro-
ress of the st. Joseph-Cold Spring Area Medical Planning Council was also dis-
cussed. It was noted that the possibility of locating a medical clinic in st.
Joseph underscoures the need for additional commercial property within the City.
Meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Paul Brinkman
Secretary
