HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977 [03] Mar 07 140 Monday, March 7, 1977 The Zoning Board of Adjustment and Appeals met in session for a Public Hearing on Monday, March 7, 1977 at 7:30 p.m. in ci ty Hall. Members Present: Chairman Ben Kremer, Bill Bruemmer, Margaret Kelly, Marlene I Schroeder, Paul Brinkman, Ron Klein and Secretary Bob Johnson. others Present: Attorney John Knapp, Attorney Dan Eller, John Honer, 18 resi- dents, Sr. Moira - st. Benedict Convent Representative, Mike Ryan - College of st. Benedict Representative. Purpose of Hearing: To hear petition for variance as submitted by Honor Homes, pertaining to plat entitled Honer's Eastern Park First Addition as follows: A variance to allow platting of said property with a lot depth of 111.60 feet instead of required 125 minimum. A variance to allow lots 1 through 4, Blk 2, to be platted with a square footage of 9,262 sq. ft. instead of the required minimum of 10,000 sq. ft. Eastern Park Residents - expressed the following: 1) Concern expressed relating to street surfacing in future. 2) Honer Homes plans - restricted to single family if variances are granted question. 3) Duplexes reduced property values. 4) Stipulation question/restricting to single family dwellings. 5) Properties not abutting 6th Ave SE should not be assessed for surfacing. 6) ~ Blk assessment policy not compatible with Eastern Court and similar areas. Attorney Eller indicated subdivision regulations require street surfacing prior to approval of final plat. I Persons abutting 6th Ave SE were favorable toward paying a share of sur- facing costs on 6th Ave SE. John Honer indicated all single family homes would be constructed. Honer Homes has no objection to stipulation prohibiting 2 family dwellings on the described property in variance request. Recommendation to Council: A motion was made by Paul Brinkman seconded by Marlene Schroeder to recommend Council grant variance as requested with stipulation: lots within variance area be used for single family dwellings only. Ayes: Kremer, Bruemmer, Kelly, Schroeder, Brinkman, Klein. Nayes: None A motion was made by Paul Brinkman seconded by Ron Klein to adjourn at 8:25 p.m. Robert G. Johnson Secretary of Board I
