Public Hearing on Comprehensive Plan
St. Joseph Planning Commission
Nov. 19, 1979
Commission members present: Ben Kremer, Virgil Lodermier, Art Budde,
Phil Durkee, S. Kai;hleen Kalinowski (Convent laison), Mike Husen
(Council laison).

The public hearning was called to order at 8:05 p.m. in the City Hall.
Wynn Hjermstad, A.P.O., summarized the Comprehensive Plan.
Questions were asked by citizens attending the hearing and answers pro-
vided by Wynn and the Commission members. Questions concerned the location
of the Senior Cit~~ Residence, the boundaries of the designated business
sector, the specifx y of the Plan with regard to aesthetics and barriers
between residential and commercial sectors, public transportation within
the city, basis for judging the need for more immediate business enter-
prises, rationale for a split or divided business sector, the prospects
for a city energy plan, the specifics of the PUD and PURD developments,
the handling of trash that accumulates around commercial areas and can
invade contiguous residential areas, other land use for Roske property
than commercial, trade-offs in commercial development between increased
city tax revenues and increased city services demanded by commercial areas,
access to Roske property if developed commercially, expanding the commercial
sector east of Roske property to 7th avenue.
The meeting was adjourned to Dec. 3, 7:30 p.m., the next regular meeting
of the Planning Commission.
