HomeMy WebLinkAbout1980 [02] Feb 04 Minutes of St. Joseph Planning Commission February 4, 1980 Members present: Ben Kremer, Tom Nahan, Hub Klein, Phil Durkee, S. Coleman O'Connell (College laison), S. Kathleen Kalinowski (Convent laison) Visitors present: Hugo Weyrens, Jerry Cyphers, Steve Dehler, Albert Schindler, John Forsythe, Mike Bauer. Meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Albert Schindler inquired about areas zoned for busine~s or designated for commercial in the Comprehensive Plan in which he could relocate his cabinet and carpentry business. John Forsythe and Mike Bauer indicated their desire to build a restaurant downtown and inquired about the possibility of construction on the vacant property immediately west of Klein's shoe store. The restaurant would serve soups, sandwiches, vegitarian menu, and other lunch items by a self- serve format. Parking, however, would be insufficient under the present ordinance which specifies one parking space per 100 square feet of business floor area. According to present plans, approximately 25 parking spaces would be needed. John and Mike will inquire into other property. Hugo Weyrens presented plans for a new house and asked for resolution of a side-yard space limitation. Hugo also informed the Commission that a developer is interested in developing land north of CSAH 75. This raises the need to up-date and draft new subdivision and zoning regulations consistent with the Comprehensive Plan. The water and sanitary sewer issue will also need resolution soon. New Planning Commission officers were elected: chairperson - - Ben Kremer; vice-chairperson -- Tom Nahan; secretary -- Phil Durkee. The meeting was adjourned. Next meeting will be a special meeting on Monday, February 11. Respectfully submitted, f~ ff~ Phillip Durkee
