Minutes of St. Joseph Planning Commission
Aug. 4, 1980

Visitors: Jim Landwehr, Don Land~lehr, Jerry Cyphers, Bill Prichard,
Jim Southward
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m.
Jim and Don Landwehr asked the Commission whether it would prefer
development to proceed on the west part of to~m or to the south of Cloverdale
Estates. Discussion pointed out that the rules and regulations for Planned
Unit Developments (PUD),were not yet drawn up.
Bill Prichard, representing Reinert Construction Co., asked permission to
construct a bituminous pedestrian/bicycle path on the easement that extends
south from loth Ave. SE through the Cloverdale Townhouses. A motion was made
by Phil Durkee to recommend to the City Council to allow Reinert Construction
Co. to build a 6-foot wide bituminous path with post blockades at the north
end on the easement through Cloverdale To~mhouses. Motion was seconded by
Tom Nahan and passed un~~imously.
Bill also inquired about the requirements for a sign on the NVl corner of
the Cloverdale Townhouse Âddition for identification purposes. After consulting
the Ordinances, the Commission recommended that application for a sign variance
be made.
Jim Southward stated that he desired to purchase a lot at 524 1st Ave NE
in order to open a Scrap Metal Yard. The Comprehensive Plan designates this
lot as Multiple Family Residence, although it is now zoned Industrial. Jim
indicated he may apply for a Special Use Permit.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:10 p.m.
