HomeMy WebLinkAbout[III] Minutes St. Joseph Park Board Minutes May 26, 2015 6:00 p.m. Wobegon Shelter Members Present: Marguerite Fogarty (Secretary), John Anderson (Chairman), Matt Killam (Councilor Liaison), Terry Thene (Staff Liaison), Andrew Deuhs, Troy Goracke, Jodi Keehr Call to Order: 6:00 p.m. Approval of Minutes: Approved Approval of Agenda: Approved Liaison Reports: Matt Killam : Matt reported that street improvements were discussed at a recent Council Meeting. A full-time Police Officer was hired. Three options are being discussed regarding a new Government Center. Terry Thene : The crew is attempting to keep up with mowing. The Ballpark seeding washed away. It needs to be re-seeded. Old Business: a.Public Input for Parks Currently 106 responses have been tallied. The Board agreed this is a very limited sample of the total population. b.Pickleball Tabled. c.Millstream Shelter Report Moved to New Business d.Aquatic Feature Update Process has begun to obtain pledges e.Priorities Top priority is the Millstream Shelter. Other priorities include dog parks and Foot Golf. f.Wildflower Establishment at Klinefelter Steve Heymann will join us at the July meeting to address homeowners. g.Other Old Business None New Business: a.Dog Park Advocate Mary Mundeen Mary has heard from many people who would like a dog park in our area. Safety of the location is an issue to be considered. John shared the fact that our budget is very limited. He said there is power in an advocacy group that could form and come up with funding possibilities. Mary agreed to work on forming a group. st Location possibilities were discussed. The drainage area south of 1 St and north of the Wobegon Trail was walked by the Board and considered a good possibility. Terry is going to check into the feasibility of that location. The Board will discuss this at the June 22 meeting. (Centennial Park) b.Millstream Shelter Expenditure: Terry and John met with the architect who designed the Waite Park facility. The cost would be $7,500 to provide blueprints. Troy made a motion to use Sales Tax Money (up to $7,500) to have blueprints drawn for a new Millstream Shelter. Andrew seconded. The motion carried unanimously. c.Foot Golf Matt researched the specifics of this sport. Typically they are located at existing golf courses; however, Northland Park seems to be a possible location. Matt and Terry will continue research on this project. d.Other New Business None Adjournment: 7:15
