The meeting was called to order at 1:35 p.m. Dave Hollander and a few other visitors raised the issue of the best access to Co. 15 at about 2nd Ave. N.E. Hollander and others recommended that the present alley access between 1st and 2nd Ave. N.E. be closed, that the access across Co. 15 in front of Ickes be closed, and that a new access and median cross-over be constructed at 2nd or 3rd Ave. N.E. He said the businesses and most landowners north of Co. 15 are willing to pay the construction costs of the access on the north side and the median crossover. After lengthy discussion, Hub Klein moved that the Commission recommend to the City Council that a new access to Co. 15 and a complete median crossover with speed deceleration lanes be constructed at 2nd Ave. N.E. and the present alley acoess be closed,with the understanding that businesses and landowners on the north will pay the construction oosts for the north access and median crossover. The motion was seconded and passe unanimously. Donna Blanchette and other members of the Park :Board raised the question of a future city park strategicJ~ looated in the south-east part of town so that children and adults could enJ 0::1 a well-equipppd neighbor park. The :Board believes that a park]approximately 10 acres in sizeþlocated in the area de- (ignated FORD on the Comprehensive PlanJ would be benefioial. The :Board will return at a future time with specific recommendations on size, location, and suggested procedure for purchase of larid. The minutes for Jan. 1 were read and approved.
