February 3, 1986
Members present: Hub Klein, Ben Kremer, Phil Durkee, S. Kathleen Kalinowski
Others present: Ross Rieke (Council laison), Mrs. Merl Gretsch, nave naniels,
Albert Watkins
Ben Kremer called a public hearing to order at 7:40 to consider the request
by Albert Watkins for a special-use permit for the use of an accessory
building at 30 E. Minnesota st. in support of a home occupation. This
property is owned by Margaret Meyer. The home occupation is a profession
as patent officer. S. Kathleen moved to recommend to the Council approval
of the request for a special use permit. The motion was seconded and passed
unanimously. The public hearing was closed.
Next, Ben called the Flanning Commission to order. nave Daniel from Daniel's
Funeral Home raised the issue of a referral from the City Council to the
Planning Commission to consider making the east side of College Ave. in front
of the Funeral Home a no-parking zone. This referral was mentioned in the
St. Joseph Courrier but not officially presented to Ben. Dave pointed out
that the snow from the street is currently piled by the street side, thus
reducing the normal parking space, and the city has not removed the snow
as it has in other parts of the busîness district. Moreover, the }'Å’aeral
Home has funerals only about once per month. S. Kathleen recommended that
the Council remove the snow and monitor the parking and traffic conditions
during the next few funerals. The other Commission members concurred.
The Minutes from January 6 were read, corrected, and approved.
Respectfully submitted,
