Minutes of St. Joseph Planning Commission
December 1, 1986

The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m.
The Commission resumed discussion of the proposed amendment to the Zoning
Ordinance, section 13.10, which pertains to advertising signs and billboards.
After lengthy discussion in which the major concern was that the natural
scenery in business and highway areas might be destroyed with excessive ad-
vertising signs, Tom moved to recommend to the Coun6ìl that the proposed
amendment be accepted with the following changes: in paragraph j, the third
and fourth sentences would read, "No advertising sign or billboard shall
project higher than 30 feet above the average grade of the property on which
the sign is located. An advertising sign or billboard structure shall not
contain more than two signs per facing nor exceed 200 square feet in sign
surfans area." The motion was seconded by S. Kathleen and passed unanimously.
The Commission also discaásed section 6.00 of the Zoning Ordinance which
pertains to building permits. Hub Klein moved to recommend that this section
be amended by adding the following sentence after the first sentence of the
section: "No building permit shall be required for shingling, siding, roofing,
changing windows or doors." The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
