I ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
CITY OF ST. JOSEPH
September 21, 1987
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Ben Kremer; Board Members Art
Budde, Tom Nahan, Phil Durkee. Clerk/Adm. Rachel Stapleton.
Ross Rieke, Council Liason. Hub Klein and Sr. Kathleen
Kalinowski were absent.
OTHERS PRESENT: James Krebsbach.
At 8:00 p.m. a public hearing was held in City Hall to
consider a request for a variance to allow construction of a
six to eight ft. chain link fence with a 45 arm extensions on
the top with strands of barb wire at the following parcel of
property: 2.47 acres located southeasterly of Millstream
Park and North of CSAH 75, described as follows, that part of
lot 9, Aud. Subd. 4, which lies east of the west 186.5 feet
thereof, northerly of the northerly right of way line of CSAH
75 and west of a line drawn due south from a point which is
800 feet due west of a point on the west line of Schneider's
Add'n. , distant 800 ft. northerly of the intersection of
I said west line and the northerly right of way line of CSAH
75.
Jim Krebsbach described his request for a variance to allow
him to construct a fence as described, which is higher than
required and will have barb wire. This fence is for security
purposes for the bulk plant, wh~ch was included in his plans
when presented to the Commission and Council last year.
Tom Nahan made a motion recommend to the Council to allow the
variance as requested because of the importance of security
of the area; seconded by Art Budde.
Ayes: Kremer, Nahan, Budde, Durkee.
Nayes: None. Motion carried.
The hearing adjourned at 8:17 p.m.

September 21, 1987
I Members present: Art Budde, Ben Kremer, Phil Durkee, Rachel
Stapleton (City clerk), Tom Nahan.
Others present: Jim Krebsbach, Ross Rieke (Council laison).
Ben called the meeting to order at 7:50 pm.
The Minutes from June 23, July 6, July 13, August 3, August 10,
and September 14 were approved.
A Public Hearing was called to order to consider a request from Jim
Krebsbach for a variance to build an eight-foot high chain link fence
topped with barbed wire around the property perimeter on which his
bulk fuel storage tanks are located north of CSAH 75. The purpose of
the fence is security and safety. Art made a motion to recommend
approval of the request for a variance. The motion was seconded by
Tom and passed unanimously.
The Hearing was adjourned.
