MINUTES OF THE ST. JOSEPH PLANNING COMMISSION
November 7, 1988
I Members present: Hub Klein, Tom Nahan, Ben Kremer, Phil
Durkee, S. Kathleen Kalinowski
Others present: Ross Rieke (Council laison)
Ben called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
The new construction at the El Paso Club was briefly
discussed. A question was raised about whether any new
construction in the General Business District needed to be
reviewed by the Planning Commission. The El Paso Club
owners have never appeared before the Commission.
A question was raised about the status of Scherer Trucking
in its request for annexation to the City after the last
public hearing on the request to be rezoned industrial. The
company would need to ask for a variance on the set-backs of
its buildings, especially the office. Nothing has been
heard from them.
Phil Durkee submitted his resignation from the Planning
Commission which is to be effective January 1 , 1989.
Ross described some difficulties that the City has had with
I Dale Salo and his construction in Clinton Village addition.
Salo has attempted to move ahead with phases of the
construction before they were officially approved by the
Council.
The Commission examined the fee 1 i sted in the Ordinance for
a hearing to appeal a compliance order (p. 196). The
consensus was that the $15. filing fee should be changed by
the Council to conform to the rates charged for other
special hearings.
The Minutes from September 12 and October 3 were read and
approved.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
